I have been lucky enough to have been directed by Susan Boulanger in numerous shows. One of my most challenging productions with Susan was when I played a variety of roles in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. In particular, I struggled with Henrietta Iscariot, Judas’ mother. She has a very intense and emotional opening monologue. Susan worked with me to find just the right balance that allowed me to experience and translate the intense emotion without alienating the audience or becoming over emotional. She helped me move through a very difficult piece, shake it off, and get ready to use my Irish accent in the next role. Susan has the ability to instill confidence, pin-point any struggles you are having as an actor, and pull emotions out of people that I have rarely seen with other directors. I would not hesitate to be in a show where Susan is the director.

Susan's tools for teaching acting skills are easy and fun to apply - for instance she teaches such in-depth concepts as character development through simple devices that help you create complex and interesting characters before you even realize what you are doing. She directed many shows at our local community college with a mix of experienced and brand-new actors - by the time the show opened it was very hard to tell who was the novice and who wasn't. The result was a series of extremely high quality performances.
